Accountable for the coordination of direct nursing care. Provides high risk nursing care (e.g., conscious sedation, complex patient assessment, and high risk procedures) and has the required knowledge, skills, and competencies. Provides patient/family education and discharge planning. Provides professional nursing care across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. Where nursing care is provided, the nursing process of assessing, diagnosing, outcome identification, planning, implementing, and evaluating is the basis for care delivered. Provides leadership through activities such as teaching, community involvement, preceptor role, relief Team Lead assignment, committee work, and participation in research. Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Position renders individualized, age specific and direct bedside nursing care based on the nursing process and patient needs. Acts as a supervisor by assessing, planning, delegating and utilizing independent judgment in directing other healthcare employees for the provision of patient care. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice to identify patient goals. Participates in hourly rounding. Observes safety guidelines and safe work practices.
