The Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management (BIOPAMA) program is a component program of the IUCN Global Protected and Conserved Areas (PCA) Team. It aims to improve the long-term conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries, in protected areas and surrounding communities.I work to support the implementation of the BIOPAMA II programme in two main areas of work: (i) Supporting the BIOPAMA program management, monitoring and learning;(ii) Supporting the implementation of the BIOPAMA Action Component including grant monitoring, reporting, portal management, and analysis of the impacts of BIOPAMA’s funded projects and communication.This work includes facets of program coordination, organisation, monitoring, evaluation and learning, and knowledge management.

I am a resource manager that works closely with colleagues in DFO Science, Ocean, and Reconciliation and partnership programs to fulfill the government of Canada's 25% by 2025 and 30% by 2030 marine conservation targets. The MCT program supports the Government of Canada in meeting these goals by pulling together fisheries and resource management inputs into larger marine spatial planning processes, including new and existing marine protected areas, marine refuges, rockfish conservation areas, and glass sponge reef conservation. I lead elements related to spatial planning processes such as the Strait of Georgia and Howe Sound glass sponge reefs and the Howe Sound Rockfish Conservation Areas. I actively work with Indigenous groups, stakeholders and the industry on these initiatives and help with the funding program to assist our partners in participating in these processes.

Primary role focuses on the Earth Reserve Assurance Framework (ERA), a 100% free/libre/open framework for the determination of monetary value and quantity in a multi-currency world with no central reference unit of account. I provide the ecological framework, GIS spatial analyst tools, and coding skills to help implement ERA. I also support the team with science communication, and website design and implementation.

Collaborated with the Alaska Whale Foundation aiding in Humpback Whale conservation in Southeast Alaska by gathering field data and performing follow-up analyses using a variety of statistical tools including GIS, RStudio, SPSS, and Geospatial Modelling Environment Software. I studied the movement patterns of humpback whales in relation to their prey environment, mapped humpback whale collision risk with vessel traffic in Southeast Alaska, and developed funding proposals and presentations for donors and sponsors.
