Dr. Danielle Hauck holds a BA in Physics from Cornell University as well as an M.S. and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. She has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Archaeometry Group at the University of Missouri, focusing on provenancing displaced gothic limestone sculptures to determine their cathedral and quarry of origin. While at LANL Danielle performed research in calorimetry, neutron counting, gamma spectroscopy, and other treaty verification technologies. Her technical work in calorimetry and neutron multiplicity counting focused on development of new mathematical methodologies and their application for improved analysis approaches. Work at LANL also included leading a multi-laboratory, international project for the joint U.S.-U.K. development of portal monitors for arms control and has participated in various other projects and exercises spanning a wide range of treaty verification issues. Danielle then served as a technical adviser to the Office of Nuclear Verification (NA-243) in the Department of Energy, providing project management support and technical recommendations to policy makers. Danielle is currently continuing work in treaty verification and related efforts at Argonne National Laboratory with a focus on the role of authentication, or the building of monitor confidence. Danielle is also a part of the Argonne Vulnerability Assessment Team, assessing gaps in security systems to identify concrete recommendations for improvements to the design or procedures.
