Assist rural hospitals and other health care providers with improving the quality of care provided to their rural residents by participating in quality data reporting mandated by local, state, and national organizations. In addition, promote the analysis and use of data to design, implement, and evaluate innovative quality improvement projects. Manage the Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Program and the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Grant. Research and compose multimillion dollar federal grant applications with successful awarding. Manage federal grant deliverables, several budgets, 30+ annual contracts and vendors, and data requirements. Assist hospitals with the development and execution of population health and health equity improvement initiatives. Provide assistance with the implementation of evidence-based practices to contribute to meeting the Triple Aim (better care, better health, lower costs) in rural communities and reduce rural health disparities. Performs legislative analysis as required for the agency. Develops and maintains partnerships with 20+ organizations and government agencies to perform work with greatest success and efficient use of resources. Presents work annually at national meetings and events.

Coordinate medical countermeasure procurement, distribution, and reconcile in a bioterrorism or natural disaster incident. Coordinate with 23 Emergency Management Coordinators and 7 Local Health Departments for emergency preparedness planning and exercising. Conduct call down exercises and compile reports in regards to emergency preparedness, plans, and grant deliverables. Staff the Regional Operations Center when activated in a natural disaster, severe weather incident, bioterrorism incident, or incident requiring state assistance. Maintain contact databases for various agencies, preparedness groups, and associates. Compose, review and update standard operating guidelines, emergency plans, and job action sheets for preparedness activities in the event of an emergency.

Conduct comprehensive disease intervention activities. Conducts interviews and investigations, enters data into the statewide database, completes epidemiological paperwork and studies. Performs venipuncture in clinic and in the field. Establishes and maintains relationships with local health care agencies, providers, laboratories, correctional facilities and other organizations to facilitate disease screening, and diagnosis/treatment. Maintains confidentiality in accordance to HIPPA. Manages multiple case loads at one time and follows the path of disease in order to find undiagnosed disease or lack of treatment.

Conduct activities in 11 different Central Texas Counties that include child safety seat inspection stations, child passenger safety education and presentations; planning, implementing, and evaluating grant activities; Collaborating with community partners on effective ways to reach community members with self-directed initiative. With program staff, composed grant application for the Texas Department of Transportation and was awarded two years consecutively. Assisted with budget planning, review, and amendment as well as compiled reports on all activities conducted for grant objectives.

Activities included creating educational information, programs,and activities for members to create awareness and increase knowledge in areasof fallprevention, heart health, diabetes, exercise, and nutrition; performed blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol finger prick tests for health screenings; conducted education presentations for adults aged 50 and older.

Collaborate with university faculty, community members, and student body to bring educational materials and awareness pertaining to health; prepare, organize, evaluate, and implement programs for students and faculty. Composed articles for Student Health 101 magazine in a variety of health topics. Conducted educational presentations to students of the university varying in group size in a wide range of health areas that related to the lives of students.
