While at Burlingame High School, I managed Special Education Department, a total of 17 individuals including 9 teachers and 8 instructional assistants with direct oversight over 100+ students with Individualized Educational Plans. I worked closely with staff, teachers, administrators, and the district office to build a strong department and to execute educational goals for students with learning disabilities. During my tenure at Burlingame High School, I built and implemented a new data delivery system to 70+ teachers across 9 departments. I initiated this during my first month as Department Head and saw it's continued success during my time and after I left Burlingame. To improve access for students with learning disabilities to quality education, I increased the amount of Special Education Teachers and Instructional Assistants in General Education classrooms from one teacher in one section, to 11 teachers and assistants across 21 sections. I developed and presented educational trainings to a variety of staff to help increase Special Education awareness and provide practical solutions to challenging students. Show less

Made progress towards Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) Goals to 50+ students with identified learning disabilities, while teaching regular courses and managing departmental responsibilities. Along with my co-teacher, we implemented the co-teaching model in general education biology. This teaching model increased the pass rate for learning disabled students by 25% and we achieved 100% enrollment of said students in the general education Biology course.

Managed a team of up to 5 SCUBA diving instructors to enable successful instruction of over 100+ students. Organized dive schedules, ensuring that dive operations ran on time and successful certifications for over 90% of the students. Ran day-to-day operations on a live-aboard sailboat with 2 staff and 12 teenage students for 3 week sessions.

Provided exceptional customer service to clients on SCUBA diving holidays including: guiding dives, maintaining high safety standards, educating clients about marine biology, teaching new divers essential dive skills, and taking special requests to ensure client satisfaction.
