As a social worker. I held a caseload of families each of whom were experiencing difficulties within their family situations. I would help and support them in engaging with services that would enable them to overcome these issues and build confidence within themselves to work towards becoming a more positive family unit. Working within government timescales, policies and procedures. I worked with children of various ages and development with a range of social and health needs. I coordinated care plans tailored to their individual needs using knowledge gained during my time at university, training courses and hands on experience. I worked with children both under child in need and child protection plans. I also worked with children in the Looked After System and supported them with facilitating contact with family members. I worked closely with other professionals in order to provide the best service for children, young people and their families. Part of my role was to organise and chair core meetings to manage a child's care plan. My emphasis as a social worker was always to try and keep a family unit together however this was not always possible and as an alternative we would then look to place the child with a close family member. I always have and always will keep a child's safety and emotional welfare at the forefront of my mind when it comes to any decision making. I often carried out parenting assessments and provided court reports detailing my findings. I made recommendations to the court regarding a child's welfare and future plans to provide those children with a safe environment to build a successful and bright future. I worked with the Care First computer system imputing sensitive and confidential data to ensure that information on safeguarding children could be accessed and shared with appropriate organisations in order to safeguard and protect our vulnerable children.Key tasks, responsibilities and achievements: As my role as Pastoral Manager. I have supported children’s attendance and education. I have worked to support young people’s emotional wellbeing and reduce possible barriers to education. Engaging and fostering relationships with young people and their families. I have attended and contributed to Epep meetings. I lead the learning support base following the national curriculum and encourage children back in to mainstream education. I have worked with SIMS and CPOMS to keep accurate records and report child protection concerns. I have worked alongside professionals and teaching staff to promote and safeguard young people’s welfare.
