My role in Operations requires me to deal with all aspects of the business from event planning, project managing, scouting, people management and dealing with all of our clients, from the public and trainers to large organisations such as the Metropolitan police and GMP. On a day to day basis I orchestrate the strategic planning and organising of our services at Enlighten, setting goals and objectives to establish policies and put them into effect through business practices that create the highest level of efficiency possible.

My role as Assistant manager of the business introduced and enhanced several skills. On a daily basis I managed all aspects of the business, controlling stock through counts, ordering and waste management. Other aspects of my job role included sales forecasting, staff rotas and wages, human resources in the form of advertising, interviewing and hiring complying with legal requirements. I carried out the necessary inductions and ongoing training of each member, some all the way through to management levels and others through disciplinary processes. I maintained morale amongst my staff, which was reflected through customers and also in being the only business in the brand to keep achieving 0% labour turnover. Planning is a skill that I have developed and exercised through several successful fundraising and charity events. I analysed profit and loss sheets dissecting it, identifying anomalies and influencing costs to meet targets. I ensured the security and accuracy of all revenue that passed through the business. Risk assessments and due diligence was an aspect I gained great confidence in.The most valuable skills I gained would be staying calm under pressure, problem solving and the ability to multi-task several jobs at once, working well in a team and also on my own. The standards I met were reflected by the achievement of no less than 98% pass or a 5 star rating on every inspection carried out by the industries external auditors, and by several accredited best bar none awards awarded by the local council.
