I am a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the Center for Literacy and Disability Studies at UNC. I have experience in advanced quantitative and qualitative research methodologies with a specific focus on microanalysis based in conversation analysis and talk-in-interaction. I am currently studying interactions mediated by augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and the way communication partners work with individuals who use AAC to establish meaning. Research Interests: -Interventions that promote flexible and high-quality communication and interaction using all modes of communication for children who use aided Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)-The behaviors and supports used by communication partners (such as speech and language pathologists (SLPs), teachers, and parents/caregivers) to support children who use aided AAC in participating in interactionsDissertation project: uses methods based in conversation analysis (CA) and talk-in-interaction research to examine the nature of interactions between exemplary AAC SLPs and children who use aided AAC.
