I teach year-long American History and AP American History courses to upper school students. I previously taught several trimester electives, including Sociology, the Cold War, the Holocaust, and AP English: The Art of War (which explores the ways that World War I and II influenced art and literature). I also previously co-taught Honors Humanities: Philanthropy and Community Service and served as a faculty advisor for the student-run board of trustees of the Artemis Fund (a philanthropic fund that awards grants to organizations seeking to assist local youth).

Researched and analyzed grant opportunities and gift prospects for an ongoing capital campaign. Assisted with planning development events and fundraisers. Designed and implemented stewardship events for annual fund donors, including a student-centered Thank a Donor Day and an e-newsletter for annual fund donors. Collaborated with the Director of Communications and Asst. Director of Communications on school-wide social media plans.

•It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere: The Globalization of Drinking: created and taught an upper-level interdisciplinary course that analyzed the intersections of gender, literature, globalization, and sociology through the history of different drinking cultures.•Set in Stone: Monuments and Memory: created and taught an interdisciplinary course in which students explored how Americans celebrate, mourn, and make/contest the meaning of important people and events through monuments, memorials, and symbols (like the Confederate flag).

Created and designed online video lectures for two courses: The World at War, 1939-1945 and The History of Women in America.

History of Europe, 1648 – Present: Taught twelve students in a summer course on Western Civilization. Class highlighted important events in Western society, such as urbanization, industrialization, revolution, imperialism, and the legacies of decolonization/the Cold War.

The Gaines Center is an undergraduate fellowship program awarded yearly to twelve juniors and seniors of outstanding academic achievement who cultivate an education in the humanities through research projects, community outreach programs, and international travel. I performed clerical duties, researched potential funding opportunities, assisted with event planning, and helped organize international travel.

Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Media - The Experience of Place: Primary instructor for two sections, Fall 2014 and 2015. Designed an inter-disciplinary course emphasizing writing and public speaking in which students wrote rhetorical analysis papers and created individual multimodal digital media projects about controversial issues surrounding place and belonging. Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Media II - Memorials and Public Memory: Interdisciplinary course on composition and communication with a particular focus on research skills and forming arguments. Primary instructor for two sections, Spring 2015 and Spring 2016. Designed primary research assignment at the Special Collections Library. Planned written and digital research assignments that culminated in documentaries about memory.

War and Society, 1914 - 1945: Taught thirty-six students in a six-week online summer course, 2015. Presented lectures, created assignments, and graded student work. Also the primary instructor within the classroom (lectures delivered online by professor) for eight sections during the school year between 2011 and 2013.

Courses included: War and Society, 1945 - 2001; History of Europe, 1648 – Present; U.S. History Since 1865; and U.S. History to 1865.
