My biggest wins have always stemmed from the relationships I’ve built. Let me tell you about 2 small businesses I started with support from key partners. My mural painting business won multiple bids for large-scale murals in Columbus, Ohio. For years I put in the back-end work to market my product to attract buyers and advocates. This included social media marketing, event planning, art receptions, partnering with galleries and community organizations, and visualizing solutions for clients. The same with my Shopify e-commerce store The Good Life Pup. Through researching and prospecting the best suppliers, I attracted the right customers that were generous with repeat business. Trust is everything: Showing up, listening, seeking to understand problems, staying humble, and delivering results. I should mention - those businesses were side-hustles. Over the past 12 years, I’ve managed multiple university research projects, supported Executive Programs at Ohio State, taught in the K12 setting, and work across teams to solve problems as my school’s union representative.
