Research project: ‘Engineering of Clostridium novyi to enhance its efficacy in cancer treatment’.In my current project, I work with Clostridium novyi, an anaerobic bacterium, focusing on utilising molecular tools for genetic manipulation. Specifically, I’ve gained hands-on experience in techniques such as CRISPR-Cas9 for gene insertions and knockouts, gene transfer, and reporter assays to characterize novel inducible promoters, and phenotypic microbiological assays to assess bacterial behaviour. Beyond my research, I have also served as a student mentor, providing guidance and support to undergraduate students throughout their studies, helping them navigate academic challenges.
