I worked in Oregon's Capitol for seven years as a committee assistant directly supporting lawmakers and policy analysts in the House and Senate Committees on Health Care. I also intermittently supported legislative committees on human services, housing, education, natural resources, transportation, and ways and means.During my time with the legislature, I completed my Master of Public Health program at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. I specifically chose this program for its focus on social justice, equity, and anti-racist strategies, in addition to state and federal system structures and historical circumstances that have contributed to our current health policy landscape.My undergraduate degree is in journalism, and I have a strong portfolio of published work for independent newspapers.I have a wide variety of additional work experience including customer service, canvassing, and marketing roles, which sets me apart from professionals with more narrowly tailored expertise.The intersection of my communication and public health expertise and my lived experience make me ideally suited for roles in public engagement and project management related to policy development, implementation, and evaluation.
