In my last job I had been working for a Disability Employment Service agency as a job coach where I had been engaging with clients to help assist in finding employment, helping clients gain employability skills, helping to update resumes and cover letters and helping clients identify potential employment options. In my time working for this company I have managed my own calendar and appointment bookings, completed relevant forms and completed a variety of administrative duties.

Worked as a customer service representative taking inbound youth and student calls for a government contract. This role had me coding new study details, complete employment reporting’s, assessing and granting customers for urgent payments, update contact details, restoring payments and many other tasks. I was then upskilled to jobseeker calls where I was calling customers and negotiate job plans, coding medical certificates and exemptions, referring customers for employment assessment appointments, completing appointments for new benefits that customers are applying for and explaining mutual obligations and employment agencies to customers.

In this role as a disability support worker I was assisting clients in their own homes. Throughout my 4 years working in this role I worked with a verity of client from diverse backgrounds, of all ages and with a verity of disabilities and medical conditions.The verity of clients I worked with had Motor Neurone Disease, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, dementia, cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, quadriplegia, paraplegia and extreme obesity. I’ve used mobile hoists, ceiling hoists, electric wheelchairs and shower chairs and have had to assist with catheter care, bowel care, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy feeding and medication administration.Some of the tasks I undertook as a support worker were personal care, cleaning, meal preparation, teaching/helping client to cook, gardening, respite, attending appointments, shopping with clients and for clients, making phone calls on client’s behalf and assisting with NDIS plans on client’s request. I also completed shift notes and hazard assessments at every shift and reported any changes that needed to be addressed in care plans.
