This position is part of the Violence and Injury Section. The purpose of this role is assess statewide trends and create data products to drive data driven decision making at the state and local level. This role utilizes SAS and Tableau to analyze and disseminate injury related data, with a primary focus on unintentional drug overdose.My responsibilities include, but are not limited to: *Initiates, designs, proposes and conducts epidemiologic projects, research and investigations in compliance with established procedures governing advanced epidemiologic work. *Manages, cleans, and manipulates large scale datasets by utilizing complex SAS functions such as Macros, Arrays, and Proc SQL. *Conducts advanced data linkages and analytic research using multiple data sources including the Ohio Violent Death Reporting System (OH-VDRS), Ohio prescription drug monitoring data set (OARRS), Ohio Department of Health (ODH) vital statistics death data, hospital data, and syndromic surveillance data. *Works in collaboration with other Epidemiologists to develop a data analysis and dissemination products. *Tableau developer for internal and external dashboards *Facilitates peer learning monthly meeting focused on developing technical skill development, primarily with Tableau and SAS *Acts as organizational liaison and facilitator for the data subcommittee of a statewide injury prevention coalition (Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership- OIPP)

In this role, I acted as an overdose epidemiologist that worked with fatal and non-fatal overdose data sets. My primary purpose was to manage the data for the SUDORS section of OH-VDRS. In other words, I work to ensure that overdose death data is collected from agencies and coded with accuracy. I am the overdose team lead, and I work with colleagues and coroners to ensure quality data is reported in a timely fashion.In this role I worked on improving data dissemination for the array of data we have to better benefit our communities. I do this by assisting with requested datasets, developing fact sheets, and creating Tableau dashboards for internal partners. I also assist with providing data for other injury prevention projects.Additionally, I assist with leadership and onboarding for the Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership. Part of this involves assisting with grant reviews for mini projects from our community colleagues as well as providing the orientation training.

This position is part of the Ohio Violent Death Reporting System which is a surveillance system that tracks a variety of circumstances for individuals that expired from violent deaths, such as homicides, suicides, undetermined deaths, and more recently drug overdoses. We collect the information from police reports, coroner reports, and death certificates.My work in this role included working with coroners to obtain reports involving individuals that have expired due to violent means or an accidental drug overdose. I reviewed and extracted data from coroner and police reports into a national database. I assisted in the development of fact sheets and data visuals for a variety of purposes.

The Ohio Citizen Advocates for Addiction Recovery is an advocacy agency focused on ending the negative societal perceptions surrounding drug and/or alcohol addiction. At my current position, my responsibilities included assisting with the development of agency policy and procedures. Create a variety of documents from membership solicitation to event materials. I developed logic models for the current and desired program services. Additionally, I was responsible for coordinating the agency trainings, managing and developing social media messaging, and developing bi-weekly newsletters. In addition to these marketing projects, I developed a comprehensive needs assessment survey to identify the needs and strengths of recovery community organizations across Ohio.

The Collegiate Recovery Community is a program at the Ohio State University that offers services to students that are in or seeking recovery from an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. During my internship here, I had the privilege and opportunity to gain the following experience: Documentation Experience:·Assisted with the development of various documents, such as policies and procedures, the yearly annual report, and a manual for incoming interns and volunteers, Program Development Experience:·Assisted with the development and implementation of the Recovery Ally Training program. This included collaboration with other staff, research on relevant topics, and creative thinking for activities to involve program participants.·Worked in collaboration with the program coordinator and another intern to begin the development a comprehensive curriculum focused on the dimensions of wellness·Identified relevant information to assist in the further development of agency programming for continuous improvement.·Marketing Experience: ·Responsible for outreach and marketing both on and off campus.
