Performs physical, chemical and microbiological laboratory analyses of drinking water, wastewater, and other environmental samples; prepares samples for inorganic and organic analysis. Collects water and wastewater samples as required using established techniques and procedures; performs field tests for pH, chlorine residual, temperature, dissolved sulfides, oxidants, dissolved oxygen; and other related tests; follows quality assurance protocols to ensure proper sample collection and identification prior to delivery to the laboratory. Documents the collection of samples and flow data by following established protocols; submits clear and detailed daily field records and site sheets documenting all sampling and monitoring activities. I was involved in research as a UCI Undergraduate Researcher with Professor Saewung Kim, compiling the air pollution data and performing data analysis and calculations for photochemistry occurring in atmosphere. For instrumentation experience, I assisted in calibrating and reconfiguring the Thermo-42i NO-NO2-NOx Analyzer and performed dry calibration measurements with Bios Defender 510.

I prepared glassware and plastic equipment for testing use by placing glass vials in phosphoric acid and heated solution to 116-120°F on heating pad for two hours. The vials were then rinsed with distilled water and placed in an oven for drying. For plastics such as pipette tips, tongs, and graduated cylinders, they were soaked in 1M nitric acid overnight then rinsed with distilled water. In order to clean some of the equipment, I prepared 1M nitric acid from 15M nitric acid for cleaning use. Aside from cleaning equipment, I also prepared standard solutions for Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry Analysis by using aSartorius analytical balance, graduated cylinders, manual pipettes, and Teflon bottles.Majority of my responsbilities entailed preparing microsamples for carbon and oxygen isotopes measurements by weighing out speleothem calcite by using a Sartorius microbalance. Each sample was placed in a glass vial and stored in the oven for later analysis in Kiel IV.

As a student caller, I called alumni, parents and people connected with UCI to update them with current news in UCI, invitations to events, and information in ways to be involved with UCI funds. I developed and maintained relationships between recipients and the institution of UCI. In addition, I operated on an automated system to improve efficiency of calls and fundraised $500 for programs to improve quality of education in UCI
