Danielle is senior legal counsel at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. She advises clients in English and French, across Canada. Danielle specializes in information and media law matters including: defamation, responsible communications, privacy law, access to information, and copyright law. Concerning media law, Danielle has represented broadcasters, journalists, authors, and other publishers both in private practise and as in-house counsel. She has done pro-bono work for artists and creators.Since 2006, Danielle has also been a volunteer and member of the CMLA, an organization of lawyers specializing in media and defamation law. Danielle has appeared in provincial and federal courts. While in private practise, Danielle worked as a hybrid civil litigator and corporate lawyer. She gained experience representing clients on a wide range of legal matters including privacy, defamation, breach of contract claims, lisencing issues, procurement and tendering law, professional negligence, and insurance defence matters.Prior to earning a law degree from the University of Toronto, Danielle obtained a bachelor of journalism (Honours) degree from the University of King's College and worked as an award-winning national investigative journalist.
