FIELD SKILLSTrained / undergoing training to complete ecological surveys for a range of protected species, in support of planning applications to enhance sustainable development. I have particularly focussed my training on bird identification and have experience in breeding (dawn and dusk transects, nightjar specific) and winter surveys (transects, SPA specific, vantage point, nocturnal). Other species surveys I have experience in are:- Reptiles (presence / absence, translations)- Dormice (nest tubes)- Bats (transects, emergence, ground-level tree assessment)- Great crested newts (eDNA, bottle trapping, torching)- Badgers (field signs). I am also undergoing training in habitat surveys and botanical identification.DESK SKILLSI have gained some initial experience in project management, through which I am also developing my understanding of the planning process. I have written a number of species reports to support submissions for different stages of this, reporting survey results and discussing recommendations for mitigations and enhancements.I have undertaken desk studies by requesting and reviewing biological records, as well as considering data from online resources, such as MAGIC. I have experience in using QGIS to create informative maps to show the results of both desk and field surveys. I am trained in bat call identification using Kaleidoscope software.
