I have always been fascinated by medicine! This fascination would encourage me to dream about becoming a successful medical professional. I focused my future towards medicine, by applying for the pre-nursing program at Portage Lakes Career Center. The curriculum allowed me to become qualified in current health care concepts, and processes, as well as cutting edge technology and equipment. The completion of the program only intensified my dreams of becoming a successful medical professional. This dream led me to the surgical technology program at Middle Georgia Technical College. Using hands on techniques, I learned to use surgical instruments, prepare for surgical procedures, and assist the surgeon. In addition, I learned how to stock, sterilize, and organize supplies that are utilized in surgery. Surgery became my passion, allowing me to excel and graduate with honors. I passed my surgical technology boards, and became a national certified surgical technologist (CST). Working at Houston Medical Center, I was trained in all areas of the surgical department, however I was given an extraordinary opportunity to specialize in ophthalmology surgery. Continuing to climb the ladder, I was given another incredible opportunity to become the lead CST in the ophthalmology department at Shannon Surgery Center. I worked alongside three incredibly talented ophthalmologists , who continuingly used their medical wisdom, as a platform to help me grow as a CST. My position and responsibility only motivated me more to become a successful health care professional. Currently, I am a student at the University of Colorado State working towards earning a bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management. While pursuing my degree, I was given the prestigious honor of becoming a member of Golden Key International Honour Society. My drive and ambition has continually pushed me to reach my goal of becoming a successful health care professional
