Strategy and management consulting practice centering the values of racial and social justice, intersectional equity, community liberation, holistic care, community well-being and integrity. Delivers strategic advisement, executive coaching, planning, design, organizational development, policy development, change management and group facilitation services to leaders of local and national nonprofits, public agencies, private foundations and grassroots institutions and community coalitions. Directs the only U.S. field office of the Open Society Foundations. The mission of OSI-Baltimore is to disrupt the long-standing legacy of structural racism in Baltimore by supporting powerful social change movements led by and centering the needs, interests, and voices of historically marginalized communities and communities of color.

Served as a part of the founding team of the Baltimore Children & Youth Fund, a 12M non-lapsing fund devoted to supporting children- and youth-serving grassroots institutions in Baltimore, MD. Led the design and oversight of the Fund's institutional formation, community participatory planning, grantmaking, technical assistance and other start-up efforts. The effort to create a dedicated fund to support programs for Baltimore’s young people was launched in 2015 by then-City Council President Bernard “Jack” C. Young — a response to the unrest in Baltimore following the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody, an event that sharply illuminated longstanding inequities in public funding in Black communities. The Baltimore City Council approved creation of the Fund through a charter amendment that was sent to the ballot in November 2016. The measure was approved by voters in November 2016 with more than 80 percent support. The charter amendment calls for BCYF to receive an annual appropriation that is at least $0.03 on every $100 of assessed or assessable value of all property in the City of Baltimore.

Led the design and establishment of the firm's first place-based practice area in Baltimore, consulting on a range of local and national social change and racial justice-oriented projects.Frontline Solutions is a Black-led, social justice-oriented management consulting firm comprised of scholars, activists, researchers, artists, coaches, and strategists.Frontline works with game-changing organizations in the social sector to define goals, execute plans, and evaluate impact. Frontline helps to expand opportunity for all by advancing a critical understanding of race, place, class, and gender in all of our work.

Led the design, management and deployment of two place-based strategic investment portfolios - one, focused on supporting the advancement of local and regional strategies for promoting a more inclusive workforce and economy; the other, focused on building the capacity of local community-serving agencies and institutions. Also led a number of public-private-philanthropic partnerships and Casey's citywide strategic investment effort in response to the 2015 Baltimore Uprising. The Annie E. Casey Foundation is a private national philanthropy that creates better futures for the nation’s children by strengthening families, building economic opportunities and transforming neighborhoods into safer and healthier places to live, work and grow. The Baltimore Civic Site is one of the Foundation’s two place-based teams.

Served as a Loaned Executive to the Baltimore City Mayor's Office on behalf of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Directed federally-funded, place-based economic opportunity demonstration pilot launched under the Obama Administration. Led community-participatory approach to initiative design and delivered oversight to cross-agency team and interdisciplinary, multi-sector partnership.One Baltimore for Jobs (1B4J) was a $5 million, two-year demonstration project launched by the Mayor's Office of Employment Development in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor and Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Launched in June of 2015 in response to the Baltimore Uprising, the central goal of the initiative was to explore promising practices for connecting un- and under-employed youth and young adults from Baltimore’s most economically distressed communities to viable work opportunities and career pathways in the region’s highest-growth industry sectors. The initiative’s secondary goal was to leverage the demonstration as a platform from which to build the broader strength of the local workforce system.

In 2008, the Funders Network for Smart Growth & Livable Communities launched PLACES (Professionals Learning About Community, Equity and Smart Growth), its first philanthropic leadership development initiative. PLACES is designed as a year-long fellowship program that offers tools, knowledge, and best practices to enhance funder grantmaking decisions in ways that are responsive to the needs and assets of low-income neighborhoods and communities of color. As a result of participating in the PLACES program, fellows develop: an in-depth knowledge of how decisions about growth and development relate to issues of race/ethnicity/class; tools and resources to help them increase their effectiveness as grantmakers; exposure to best practices of grantmakers working in this field; leadership development and skill building opportunities; and, expanded networking opportunities.

The Center for Urban Families (CFUF) is an independent 501(c)3 organization located in Baltimore, MD, with an annual operating budget of roughly 4-5M. CFUF specializes in servicing the needs of Baltimore’s most hard-to-reach populations, including the formerly incarcerated, those with a prior history of substance abuse, and low-income, non-custodial fathers. Service areas include: workforce development, responsible fatherhood, responsible parenting, and family strengthening. CFUF also leads a national training and technical assistance institute focused on building the capacity of practitioners in the responsible fatherhood, black male achievement and family strengthening fields. In this role, I:- Managed and oversaw all day-to-day activities pertaining to fund development, external communications, policy advocacy, technical assistance and training, strategic partnerships, planning/program development and program evaluation. 
- Served as interim manager of team of roughly 20 full-time managers and frontline staff. 
- Led, in collaboration with CEO, Board leadership and senior leadership team, strategic planning process to set organization’s 5 year strategic destination framework and new operational structure.

In this role, I:- Managed all day-to-day activities pertaining to program and resource development, strategic planning, program assessment, and policy. 
- Managed all grant and contracts acquisition, administration and reporting for the organization’s major foundation, private, and public funding sources. - Conducted legislative research; drafted testimony for CEO; drafted white papers and briefing memos for partner government officials, legislative champions and staff; hosted organization’s community conversation series, a semi-annual forum for convening residents, practitioners and policymakers around policy issues of interest to CFUF’s served client populations. Co- authored 2010 report, “The Urban Families Report: The Earned Income Tax Credit and Low-Income Men.” 
- Won Merrick School of Business Fall 2009 Nonprofit Social Entrepreneurship Competition for development of business plan for CFUF Training Institute consulting model as organization’s first for-profit social venture (now called the Practitioner’s Leadership Institute). Led interdisciplinary team to determine feasibility of entrepreneurial ideas, conduct market research, and develop plans for initiative legal and financial structure. 
- Served as the Senior Technical Specialist for federal sub-contract (HHS), managing technical assistance team of 7 internal staff and 20 part-time consultants. Technical assistance delivered to a network of 96 Promoting Responsible Fatherhood, Healthy Marriage, and Economic Stability grantees.

Managed several grants under the Homeland Security Grants program; developed agency processes and systems for grants and contracts administration; and, supported staff, as needed, through auditing processes.The Baltimore City Mayor’s Office on Criminal Justice (MOCJ) coordinates criminal justice strategies within Baltimore City’s agencies; forms partnerships with state and federal agencies, community groups and non-profit organizations to address crime and criminal justice issues; assists residents who are in need of support due to their criminal background; and administers Operation Crime Watch, which effectively unites Baltimore neighborhoods and police to reduce and prevent drug use and drug-related crime by engaging citizens in law enforcement and community crime prevention activities. MOCJ also oversees Local Law Enforcement Block Grants, as well as grants from the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention to reduce crime in Baltimore City.

Designed and coordinated six-week summer program which connected justice-involved young people to jobs, enrichment opportunities and wrap-around
