My most recent employment experience was working at a Girl Scout summer camp as the STEM Manager. This job was a perfect fit because it gave me the opportunity to use STEM and creativity in tandem. Each week was filled with new opportunities as I was tasked with coming up with programs that would engage the scouts and foster an interest in STEM. Bringing amazement and satisfaction to the scouts as they were able to create wands that lit up gave me a sense of pride and accomplishment. My favorite project was during fine arts week, when I taught the girls about rube Goldberg machines. The program started with a 2 minute video from Honda highlighting what a rube Goldberg machine is, then drawing our own rube Goldberg comic and ending with a chain reaction activity that used marbles and dominoes.
