I have devoted my career to making meaningful progress to fight climate change. I worked on Capitol Hill (for Democrats, Republicans and Independents in the House and Senate) and as an environmental litigator at the Department of Justice. In 2013, I founded Glen's Garden Market, a climate-motivated grocery store in Washington, DC. There, I created hundreds of good-paying jobs and helped launch nearly 100 sustainability oriented small, local food businesses, of which 55 are women-owned and more than 20 were founded by people of color. I hosted a podcast called Everyday Enviro to provide a roadmap for personal carbon footprint reduction (40 episodes) and created a pitch competition and grant program to identify, incubate and accelerate women, who are doing great work in sustainable food (AccelerateHERdc). I sold Glen's Garden Market in June 2021, and founded Good Food Consulting. Through the consultancy, I teach grocers, aspiring grocers and store managers how to lead their operations to maximize financial, cultural and environmental sustainability. I also provide consulting services to retailers looking to improve the environmental sustainability of their operations. Additionally, I am an adjunct professor at American University teaching Sustainable Food Systems Law at the Washington College of Law and Sustainable Entrepreneurship at the Kogod School of Business. In addition to those courses, I created and instructed a class for undergraduates called Careers to Maximize Social Impact.
