Newborn Hearing Screener
Current● Conducting automated auditory brainstem response, or AABR, tests on newborns in neonatal intensivecare units. The AABR test also uses sensors placed behind each ear and on the child's forehead tomeasure brain response to sounds from the tips inserted into the ears.● Giving parents the test results, and explaining the procedure and next steps.● Refer babies who are unsuccessful with the test to a supervising audiologist.● Document work and prepare paperwork to bill insurance companies for the screening procedures.● Maintain and sterilize assigned testing equipment, in addition to tracking supplies for the babies’protection.
