I have recently taken on the role of a Volunteer Research Assistant with the National Trust for Scotland property The Georgian House, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. I will be conducting research on dress and textiles associated with the property, ranging from 1780-1830, presenting my research in the form of a paper to be published through the National Trust for Scotland. I will also be given the opportunity to present my research in a conference/talk once complete.

I ran two hour session with girls aged 11-18 years old over the second term of school, developing their fitness and skills using my ECB Level 2 Coaching qualification. Preparing them for the outdoor cricket season by organising safe, engaging and beneficial sessions.This role has developed my leadership and coaching abilities further. This is a new group that I have been able to work with: young school children. This is also the first experience I have had with working with a school group, I had previously coached through a cricket club, and so this was a different environment where my role was sightly varied. I was taking on more of a role of teacher and responsible adult, rather than assisting or head coach outside of a school environment.

For the final 10 weeks of my one year contract, I took on the temporary role of Perfomance Examination Officer which I took over during the exam season. This tested my time-management, communication and decision making abilities, ultimately leading to a successul exam session of around 1000 exams in the space of three weeks.In general, I assisted with the day-to-day running of the Registry which also included the Admissions and Exams teams. I had a front desk role where I would take all face-to-face enquiries, directing calls, emails and queries when unable to answer them myself. In this role, I had the opportunity to train new members of staff with general registry processes. I ran a number of annual projects (annual teacher-student reports, generating new student files, archiving alumni files) where I was able to manage and improve outdated processes.

In this role I worked closely with prospective students on Open Days, School of Arts events and Applicant Days. Alongside working with prosepctive students, I also worked closely with members of the teaching staff and developed a good level of professionalism and trust in this role. I had to maintain an engaging, friendly and helpful attitude whilst in this role. Using honestly and personal experience to persuade students and parents.
