I am pursing my medical degree at the Washington University School of Medicine. I have received a scholarship as a Distinguished Student Scholar. My predicted graduation is in May of 2026.

I spent my gap period before medical school as a full-time, paid content developer for the tech-ed company Pixorize where I created innovative, multisensory learning materials for the USMLE and MCAT exams. The job challenged me to transform complex ideas into approachable, digestible, and retainable content. The skills I developed at Pixorize now allow me to be a more effective medical communicator capable of developing dynamic and innovative treatment plans. Additionally, the job was one of collaboration in which I grew amongst other medical students, doctors, engineers, artists, and producers. As such, my position at Pixorize improved my ability to work within interdisciplinary teams and better understand this aspect of healthcare.

I founded the Washington University Student Tutoring Initiative, a collective of students offering discounted tutoring to St. Louis area children adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Initiative serves as a clearinghouse, recruiting and vetting student tutors willing to work on a voluntary or low-cost basis and matching them with area children based upon academic needs, financial resources, and other circumstances.

The initiative was born out of the idea that we, as students, had a unique understanding of all the challenges children faced and in facing them ourselves, had the ability to help families overcome them. It was my way to help empower and strengthen my community at a time when people felt fearful and helpless and when tolerance, understanding, and social justice were endangered. For many university students, working in the initiative is how they hope to leave an impact on the community around them and I am proud to have inspired that. The initiative is now an ongoing, durable enterprise that has aided thousands in the St. Louis community and serves as a model for universities nationwide.

I conceived of and developed an inexpensive, over-the-counter skin sensitivity patch kit, Precision Patch, that allows consumers to test for adverse reactions to their own cosmetic products.

Accomplishments:
- Presented my underlying research at the WU Undergraduate Research Symposium
- Participated in the Skandalaris Venture Competition and, despite being the only non-team and non-business school entry, achieved finalist status
- Completed a thesis on the product that won the Quatrano Prize, awarded to the thesis showing the greatest evidence of creativity in design, research methodology or, broader scientific implications
- Continue to develop and move Precision Patch to market

I independently ran the research on the novel product having been granted full autonomy by my PI. That freedom challenged me and instilled a heightened level of personal accountability, discipline, organization, and perseverance. The project allowed me to expand beyond traditional biology research and assume a more interdisciplinary focus. This, in turn, taught me the power of “connections” and allowed me to develop a more holistic, 360° approach to problem-solving.

Through participation in the venture competition and the extensive feedback I received therein, I learned the value of “many eyes” and constructive criticism. I developed the ability to challenge my assumptions and fearlessly alter my hypothesis to fit the data. Moreover, I learned how to package an idea or product into a compelling story that touches and motivates the audience.

The Precision Patch was conceived, designed, and engineered by me. The project taught me what it means to be innovative and entrepreneurial, thorough and impeccable in your research, cognizant of the limits of one’s knowledge, open to new ideas and the insights of others, and compelling in one’s presentation–values that I will employ in my medical career and beyond.

I passionately served as the Academic Chair for the healthcare fraternity, Alpha Iota Gamma, and went above and beyond to ensure academic excellence among members.
