About Danielle Mahon
Whilst my listed employment background indicates a strong and recent history in the retail sector I actually offer a further 8 years of sales and service experience in several roles concurrent with my secondary and tertiary studies. The diversity of this experience along with a capacity to undertake demanding workloads is certainly an asset. But my real strengths lie in a passion for leadership, exacting standards and the ability to engage employees to drive high performance outcomes.Clearly, I relish and enjoy the challenges of retailing, but I’m also skilled in project management, extremely capable in human resources management and highly effective in negotiating and contracting. I understand business metrics and I know how to deliver on cost, productivity, revenue and service expectations. My formal studies in psychology and business are particularly relevant to my future intentions and have complemented practical management and leadership accountabilities as an area manager heading store operations of between 4 and 6 locations and some 70 staff members. So what makes me successful? Simple really; I value people as the foremost asset of any organisation. I listen, I engage, and I build trusted relationships. I strategically recruit, select, mentor and develop capability, champion excellence and focus on business targets.I relentlessly strive for improvement in every way possible and I’ve achieved this consistently through implementation of effective and efficient processes that reduce time and cost relating to people resources and contracted service providers. In a nutshell I am passionate about enabling people to become the true difference in organisational performance – where their collective efforts set them apart from the competition.I want to be challenged, held accountable and empowered to manage.

Manager
Area Manager
Following successful completion of an 18 month Graduate Development Program I was formally promoted to this multisite management role where I led retail operations across 4-6 stores and a team of 70 personnel to drive high performance outcomes in the key areas of inventory, cost, productivity and service.I also took on project management of store openings and major refurbishments, contracting of several service providers and implemented improved processes to deliver better than targeted results. Some of the results I delivered included;● Halving the existing inventory loss through driving process management change and increasing focus on wastage, storage and loss prevention to become a leading example across 20 area portfolios● Reducing employee costs expressed as a percentage of sales by more than 2 basis points to again out-perform regional averages through emphasis on operational efficiency and leaner staffing● Turning around productivity expressed as a ratio of employee paid hours over sales from a region low to comfortably exceed target and regional average performance through relentless focus on efficiency actions● Increased customer service experiences and satisfaction ratings measured through outsourced mystery shopping exercises taking overall service from an unacceptable level to meet regional benchmarksA substantial component of my focus and accountabilities centred around mentoring and developing individuals to move through and ultimately take on managerial assignments within store operations. I selected and developed more than a dozen team members that gained between 1 and 3 promotions.
Area Manager Graduate
Moving through a criteria rich and highly competitive recruitment and selection process I was selected in to this relatively new to Australia based supermarket alternative to be trained and developed into the key area management and leadership space. My exposure across different aspects of the business also included real-time management accountability for delivery of outcomes and an impact on the business – there was an expectation of performance and results whilst in ‘learning’ mode and I thrived in that environment.Aside from gaining valuable knowledge in distribution centre management, logistics, warehousing, procurement and retail operations I was able to conceive and deliver innovative thoughts and tools that demonstrated a capacity for strategic business planning, management and strategy development.A prime example of this is showcased by the organisation adopting and implementing a tool at national that I developed whilst working and training in the warehousing and logistics department. The value for the business came through the introduction of a productivity measure relating to team members responsible for ‘picking’ stock. The ensuing impact at was reduced annual payroll costs of some 0.24%.
Production Coordinator
Having worked my way through the latter years of secondary school and 6 years at university predominantly in retail service and selling roles I wanted to broaden my professional experience as I neared completion of my degree in Business Management. That is how I ended up working in the publishing and printing industry, an experience that provided me the opportunity to elevate my practical experiences, business relationships and knowledge build.I made an immediate impact in this employment scenario, was rapidly promoted and mentored by the managing director, all of which instilled confidence and validated a great deal of my theory based learning. A few highlights included;● Management of over 50 projects involving component delivery, production and scheduling to time lines ● Liaison and negotiation with international suppliers and printers critical to maintaining deadlines and building trusted business relationships● Coordination and communication of schedules to studio, shipping, sales and inventory management ● Negotiation of costs with suppliers
