Anesthesia Technician
CurrentAssists anesthesiologist and CRNAs with the intubation and sedation of patients prior to surgery; including placing the patient on monitors, managing their airway, assisting in the placement of endotracheal tubes, and all other related patient care responsibilities prior to surgery start.Assists with sterile procedures, including arterial line placements, blood transfusions, administration of spinal, epidural, and other pain blockers.Key player in post-operative breakdown of rooms with tasks such as; assisting anesthesia personnel in waking patients safely, removing the patients' foley catheter, helping with transport of patients to postoperative areas, and taking specimens to the lab.Stocks anesthesia supplies in all operating and delivery suites. Maintains adequate supplies of medical oxygen, nitrous oxide, and air.Consults the operating room schedule to determine equipment needs for special procedures and prepares operating rooms accordingly.Maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots anesthesia department equipment according to instructions and protocols of equipment manuals. Cleans and disinfects anesthesia equipment after use.Key player in all emergency situations as a direct assistant to the anesthesia and operating room staff.
