Profile bio

About Danielle Bunch

My first memory is of my father lifting me over his head so I could see into a bird's nest. I vividly remember five tiny yellow bills opening wide and the joy it brought me. My father sparked a love of nature in me and I live my life doing that for others.I focus on connecting young minds with the natural world by encouraging inquiry and curiosity. I use storytelling, kindness, and place-based lessons to inspire students of all ages to play an active role in their communities, feel comfortable outdoors, and build an appreciation for science.I believe in creating equitable learning spaces where everyone can connect to nature in their own ways. I am currently dedicated to turning Newman Wetlands Center into an inclusive educational space where anyone can come learn about wetlands and water. This work includes the funding of "Welcome to the Wetlands!" (a project centered on enhancing physical and virtual accessibility) and "Marsh Memoirs" (a project dedicated to creating transmedial hiking experiences inspired by the cultural and natural stories of the land.) This work also includes a complete redesign of our Learning Center and replacing our boardwalk with accessibility, belonging, and place at the forefront of the design process. In my free time, I enjoy riding my bike, hanging with my dogs (Memphis, Griffin, & Zodi), wandering (and wondering) in the woods, gardening, watching Phillies' games, and creating nature photography. In the workplace, I:- Lead with kindness- Support my staff in a nurturing but direct manner- Dream big and do not take “no” lightly- Set high expectations- Use resources efficiently and effectively- Prefer human-to-human interactions- Learn dailyI am always eager to make new professional connections. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime.
