With over four years of work experience as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist, I am passionate about providing access to general and special education curricula to deaf and hard-of-hearing students. I have a Master of Science in Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing from California Lutheran University and a field of expertise in hearing technology. I currently work as an itinerant service provider at San Diego County Office of Education, where I share the organization's mission of ensuring equity, excellence, and innovation for all students. I put the relationships with my students, families, and colleagues first to be a successful and empathetic educator. In my current role, I support a caseload of 30+ students across various grade levels and schools, attending IEP meetings and assessments, providing academic, speech/language, and self-advocacy instruction and support, and collaborating with teams to make sure that students have all accommodations in place to thrive in general education alongside their typically developing peers. I also troubleshoot hearing aids, cochlear implants, and personal microphone technology from a wide variety of brands and models. Some of the skills that I use and develop in this role include teamwork, flexible schedule, and adaptability. I enjoy working with diverse students and families, and helping them overcome the challenges and barriers that they face in their educational journey. I am currently the preschool assessment specialist for DHH students in the South County SELPA.
