Engaged in the research and deployment of several open source projects including Hadoop for several internal data projects and next generation data warehouse implementation as well as evaluating Centos for streamlining operating cost and performance within our virtual infrastructure. Principal architect and lead on the research and adoption plans for NFSV4 and next generation FCOE data storage solutions to be utilized at Edmunds.

Key responsibilities include the day to day management of the 500 Terabyte network storage and backup infrastructure powering all Edmunds systems, design and implementation of new storage infrastructure initiatives, and mentoring of the storage administrator directly reporting to me. Additional responsibilities included the rollout of Operations Manager (DFM) for monitoring and alerting on all network appliance storage systems within Edmunds, storage design and implementation of a dedicated ISCSI environment for a clustered MS Exchange Server, and all budgeting and forecasting for future growth.Heavily involved with the migration of our Los Angeles datacenter from a colocation environment to our own leased datacenter. Designed and implemented new production storage network and successfully migrated live Edmunds web properties without incident or downtime. Additionally migrated our existing preproduction environment that consisted of over 300 physical servers and 200 terabytes of network storage without data loss and within planned timeframe. Key architect of all storage and backup network infrastructure within the Disaster Recovery site project at Edmunds. Designed and implemented new storage build out based on network appliance multistore (vfiler) technology and snapmirror. Designed and implemented new WAN site to site replicated snapvault architecture for ensuring all key Edmunds data assets located in multiple strategic locations.Designed and implemented a dedicated NFS storage solution for existing RedHat/Oracle data warehouse environment that achieved over an 800% improvement in query response times while providing quadruple the current storage bandwidth.

Worked as a team leader in daily Unix systems administration and support within a mixed environment of Solaris, RedHat Linux, and FreeBSD infrastructure. Primarily responsible for all hosted infrastructure and internal support systems involved in the 24X7 operations of Edmunds.com and all associated properties. Rebuilt and redesigned several key systems including the internal Perforce source code repository, the Edmunds extranet for all data syndication partners, and the internal log processing and data warehouse infrastructure. Principal design and implementation of a shared NFS and CIFS storage network utilizing Network Appliance clustered filers that replaced all legacy and local arrays utilized within Edmunds. Solely responsible for several key Edmunds initiatives including the storage design and build out of the first downtown Los Angeles datacenter. Heavily involved with the migration of our externally hosted Solaris based website to the new RedHat Linux datacenter with no downtime or loss of functionality. Continued expansion of storage infrastructure, redesigned and rebuilt many internal legacy systems within our new Linux infrastructure. Designed and implemented storage infrastructure enterprise backup solution centered around Network Appliance snapshot, snapmirror, and snapvault technology eliminating the need for server based backups and providing system level restore within 15 minutes or less.
