Brought on to manage high transaction VLDB infrastructure with 40 billion+ row tables Responsible for 100+ SQL instance environment utilizing many enterprise features Manage multiple “Always On” High Availability groups. Successfully implemented HA group standup and installation for large corporate SCCM project. Work with Development team to assist with rewriting queries for better use of large data access methodologies using composite keys and partition elimination. Tasked to develop, document, and implement scalable enterprise SQL backup /maintain / verify /alert strategy enterprise-wide, working with application owners to gather RTO/RPO requirements for individual systems. Utilized CMS to organize, triage, and categorize SQL server environment for ease of code deployment, policy compliance, and maintenance task creation using customized versions of industry standards such as Ola Hallengren’s maintenance solutions. Analyze performance issues and suggest and implement changes such as indexing, statistic refresh automation scheduling, and use of best practice coding etc. to give better access to mission critical data. Daily monitor critical server performance utilizing tools such as Solarwinds DPA, Splunk, Idera, and Redgate tools. Provide support in 24/7/365 environment Developed an upgrade / migration / consolidation strategy for databases using legacy versions and tools. SQL 7.0 through 2014 to 2016, DTS and ad-hoc ETL to SSIS projects, etc. Member of 3 person RBAC advisory committee responsible for reworking our existing access/security strategy. Leader of Docker Enterprise roll out team, working with dev to gather requirements and working with infrastructure to provide the needed resources while advising on overall architecture Asked to teach periodic development brown bag training sessions to teach developers effective query tuning and SQL development best practices.

After Enterprise Mobile was acquired by Intermec Technologies (Now Honeywell) I was recruited to the internal software development team as operational liaison and SQL infrastructure specialist. I deal daily with MS SQL server architecture, maintenance, high availability, reporting, troubleshooting and SQL development including stored procedures, query optimization. My duties vary from traditional DBA work, to operational efficiency and new strategy implementation as well as development, global scaling and disaster recovery.
