As the Director of Sustainability at Booking.com, I am driven by a passion for creating a more sustainable and responsible travel industry. My role involves spearheading the development and execution of our global sustainability strategy that empowers millions of travellers to make more sustainable choices while supporting our travel partners in their sustainability journeys.Since joining Booking.com, I have had the privilege of performing an number of roles, each offering unique challenges and opportunities to develop a diverse skill set. I have managed a broad spectrum of initiatives, from delivering the Booking Booster accelerator program and start-up incubation labs in partnership with the cities of Amsterdam and Barcelona, to building the company’s first comprehensive sustainability strategy. My work has also encompassed developing Booking Holding's Climate Action Plan, driving beyond value chain mitigation efforts, and creating and maintaining policies such as our animal welfare standards.My role extends to engaging with and influencing leadership, as well as our board of directors and investors, and ensuring ESG regulatory compliance and reporting. It's a privilege to represent the company on sustainability matters and to partner with industry and international organisations to accelerate the transition to sustainable tourism.My journey in sustainability is grounded in a robust academic background in cultural anthropology and international development. This has not only provided me with a deep understanding of global cultures but also equipped me with the tools to navigate and influence complex organisational landscapes. My diverse experiences—from conducting ethnographic research in India to collaborating with social enterprises in Cambodia—have shaped my approach to creating sustainable solutions that are culturally relevant and globally impactful.I am always eager to connect with like-minded professionals who share a commitment to sustainability.
