The Art Specialist identifies appropriate art-based activities for each age group and based on participants' abilities. Art groups are conducted during the Saturday Programs at various AHRC NYC sites throughout Brooklyn and Staten Island. The specialist is responsible for identifying need for art supplies, creating lesson plans for take-home and long term projects, and implementing each lesson step-by-step for participants. Objectives include encouraging artistic growth by learning about and experimenting with new materials, improving social skills with group art-making, and utilizing art-making as a positive outlet.

Provide case coordination for individuals diagnosed with ID/DD, TBI, and substance use disorder in the New York City metro area. Assist individuals in accessing Substance Use disorder treatment, higher levels of care, and aftercare services in their community. Linkages grant coordinator is responsible for facilitating information sessions to providers on promising practices used to work with the target population and how to navigate barriers to treatment, developing and submitting quarterly reports of deliverable services, maintaining grant budget, and outreach to community organizations and treatment facilities. The PEIR Counselor facilitates EBP drug and alcohol prevention education curriculum groups for individuals with ID/DD and/or TBI who are at risk of misusing substances or developing a substance use disorder. Assists with PEIR recreation trips and encourage client participation in activities.

Grant funded position providing Art Therapy to a various populations throughout Staten Island. Facilitated Art Therapy groups for at-risk youth at community centers around with group goals as building self-esteem and ego strength, effective communication with peers, and self expression through art-making and processing. Facilitated open-studio style art groups for seniors at a residential setting. Co-facilitated Art Therapy group specifically for women, goals included creating a safe space for artistic expression and processing, coping with loss and life changes. Organized, promoted, and hosted an art show displaying youth art work with client consent.

After school and summer Art Specialist working with a diverse team to build communication skills and a strong foundation for children. I develop the visual arts lesson plans based on NY education standards (environmentally-based plans were implemented during summer session).
