Dphil Student - Population Health

My research focused on exploring how different data sources can be used in large randomised trials. Routine health records, for example Hospital Episode Statistics, and national disease registries contain a wealth of information about patients that can be used to optimise both recruitment to trials and the follow-up of patients. The use of electronic health records will hopefully provide more cost-effective and efficient methods for research. My project aimed to utilize this data to determine whether using routine datasets is a viable option for improving recruitment and follow-up in clinical trials.
