Growing up, I found myself drawn to the medical field, but never in a traditional way. My love for science led me to major in Animal Science at the University of Vermont. In my Anatomy and Physiology courses, I found myself drawing anatomical figures for myself and others to better understand the topics we were learning. I suddenly realized how art, medicine/science, and communications are connected. I wanted to find a career that could combine all my interests. A Google search introduced me to medical illustration. I instantly felt a lightbulb go off. I then pursued minors in Studio Art and Applied Design to provide me with communication and marketing skills and and enable me to create effective, accessible, and engaging designs. I'm personally interested in looking into how medical illustrations can influence communication impacting patient-clinician trust, diagnosis, and treatment.In addition to medical illustration, I am also interested in how proper and effective marketing and design can make a social impact and can help foster a community. I have over three years of experience in social media marketing and management, which has led me to create many unique relationships with the local Burlington, VT community.
