Profile bio

About Danielle Demeuse

Having earned my Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, I taught high school social studies in south-central Wisconsin for five years. My undergraduate studies and volunteer work established my belief that education can serve as a means for social justice, change, and equity. My experiences as an educator deepened my awareness and understanding of systemic inequities that have historically harmed specific student groups and drew my attention towards pursuit of a graduate program in public policy and advocacy.I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy from NYU in 2016. The program leveraged my professional experiences in the field to enhance my ability to analyze educational and social systems and policies that are impacting children, families, and communities; and to better engage in collaborative dialogues towards progressive system change. I have been working on local, state, and federal policy as part of a New York City based nonprofit for the past 7 years. The portfolio of topics that I engage around includes, but is not limited to: child care access, early childhood education public systems, PK-12 educational equity, supports for immigrant students and multilingual learners, holistic wrap around service models, community schools, language access, immigrant rights and access to support (including responsiveness to newly arriving asylum-seeking families), mental health supports for children, families, and communities, and basic-need resource access (food, housing, healthcare).
