CurrentRadiology Nursing: Work up and prepare patients to receive anesthesia for mainly MRI exams and other procedures. Assist anesthesiologist, CRNAs, and anesthesiology assistants with inductions of patients. Start IVs for patients requiring anesthesia and non sedated patients requiring contrast with studies. PACU Nursing: Recover patients in PACU during phases I and II of recovery. Assist anesthesiologist with extubations. Monitor patients vital signs and airway during recovery. Asses when patients return to baseline and are safe to go home. Provide parents with discharge instructions for post anesthesia care. Sedation nursing: prepare and administer sedation medication under supervision of physician, monitor patients through procedure, and recover sedated patients. Interventional Radiology Nursing: prepare patients for various procedures such as GJ tube replacements and exchanges, lumbar punctures, and abscess drainage placements under fluoroscopy; Botox and steroid injections, biopsies of thyroid, kidney, liver under ultrasound. Coordinate care with radiologists, pathologists, and radiology techs to perform procedures.
