I am a higher education advocate and professional, with work experience in Student Affairs, Government Affairs, and instruction. Coinciding with this, I have served as an elected official since 2021.In my role as Councilwoman, I participate in the adoption of municipal ordinances, policies and fiscal year budgets. I am involved in planning various voter education, advocacy, and civic engagement activities for youth and emerging adults. Additionally, I engage with local community leaders in Monmouth County and throughout the state of New Jersey to plan events and outreach to address various topics, including mental health, COVID-19, community service, and social justice reform. My colleagues and references know me as a highly motivated individual who firmly believes in training, education, and development. I consistently seek to learn new skills and understand how systems/processes function. I utilize the knowledge, resources, and skills gained in previous work experiences in corporate America, political internships, and government affairs in my higher education career.Bronfenbrenner's (1979) ecological systems, Maslow's (1943) hierarchy of needs, and Rotter's (1954) locus of control theories are a few psychological perspectives that I incorporate in my work to understand human behavior and motivation in various contexts. DEI initiatives and research are incorporated in my programming & public policy initiatives for mentoring, advocacy, and education.
