The BBC Corporate Press Office is at the centre of media management for the whole corporation in the UK and around the world. It manages corporate announcements and reputational issues. A streamlined team there to spot, manage and engage with a story.The Press Office manages communications for the BBC’s corporate divisions including HR, Finance and the BBC’s property portfolio. It also manages major reputational issues. It works alongside, but is separate to the publicity teams who promote the BBC’s services and programmes.I worked as part of a team of Press Officers to provide an efficient and comprehensive information service to the media and the BBC, every day of the week. I supported the handling of key corporate announcements, high profile stories and crises, including the Jimmy Savile scandal. I responded to direct enquiries from the media, wrote press releases as well as prepared briefing documents for internal distribution to senior management level.

New Scotland Yard

Working from New Scotland Yard, I monitored the Met's reputation across multiple social media channels at once, as well as working to tight deadlines to create concise media reports for the most senior police officers. I provided key communications and support in arguably one of the world's busiest press offices.
