Practiced look-live shots, wrote anchor scripts and teases, edited video and sound bites for the air, escorted guests, published online articles, and made news packages. During this internship I transferred skills learned in the classroom to the workplace. I shadowed reporters, producers, photojournalists, and anchors each day.

In my advanced reporting, reporting, feature writing, news presentation, and news writing classes I published numerous articles on topics ranging from soft news to a murder on campus, using the inverted pyramid, feature, and broadcast style of writing.

Interning at this magazine I wrote review articles about local businesses.

Shadowed Hal Nelson, the senior evening producer, who showed me the basics of producing a newscast. I listened to police and EMS scanners, became familiar with the different blocks of a news broadcast, and ran TelePrompTer.
