Project held for Petrobras: Data analysis of the vibration in oil&gas drilling operations, modeling/simulation of the dynamics of drill-strings, and calibration of dynamical models.• Dealed with client’s technical interlocutor and supervised a research group of 2 engineers, 3 graduate and 2 undergraduate students.• Managed all stages of the project in terms of scope, deadlines and budget through a mixed methodology (traditional + agile).• Developed, calibrated and simulated mechanical models of drill string dynamics in MATLAB using finite elements and other discrete models.• Helped the construction of simulations in ABAQUS with Python and Fortran to validate the developed models.• Analyzed vibration data obtained in a drilling rig, using MATLAB and techniques such as FFT, Spectrogram, temporal graphs, among other techniques.• Assisted in the development of machine learning solutions using PCA, neural networks, and SVM.Key achievements:• Developed a computational library that permits the simulation and calibration of mechanical models of different complexities to describe the axial, torsional, and lateral vibration of drill-strings.• Managed to fulfill all project deliveries despite a budget cut of 20% and technical challenges.

• Developed a finite element model for the simulation of axial-torsional vibration of drill strings using MATLAB.• Proposed a methodology to consider the uncertainties of the rock formation in the models to assess and quantify the risks of the operation.• Designed and built an instrumented laboratory test bench to emulate the vibrations of the drill string using commercial sensors, National Instruments acquisition plates, and a software built in LabView.• Analyzed the data obtained on the test bench using MATLAB through box-plots, FFT, spectrogram, polynomial regression, distribution fit and so on.
