Learning Enhancement And Support Advisor

Technology Enhanced Learning Advisor
My role was to identify and respond to staff learning needs and to strategically design, deliver and evaluate development interventions related to the effective use of current and emerging Technology Enhanced Learning tools in Higher Education.Working to the Learning & Teaching Development annual objectives, the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy and the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Quality Framework, I pro-actively support and develop staff in their use of technology to enhance the student learning experience. I provided first line support for all the institutions key Technology Enhanced Learning systems/tools which includes (but is not limited to) Moodle (the institutions VLE), Mahara (the institutions e-portfolio system), Camtasia Relay (the institutions lecture capture solution), Helix Media Library (the institutions streaming media server) and TurnItIn.I was also responsible for the design; teaching and assessment of the SEDA (Staff Educational Development Association) accredited Supporting Learning Technology & Embedding Learning Technology awards delivered at York St John University. The awards aim to model best practice in the delivery of blended/online learning and is underpinned by frameworks such as the institutions Technology Enhanced Learning (3E) Quality Framework. The awards cover topics such as inclusive practice, e-pedagogies, designing online learning activities, creating online content and methods and techniques for e-assessment and marking. Delivering these awards has allowed me to further enhance my knowledge and expertise of teaching the pedagogic use of technology within Higher Education.
Staff It And E-Learning Trainer
In this role I had to design, deliver and evaluate development interventions related to the effective use of IT and e-Learning systems based on staff learning needs. This involved working closely with both Staff Development and Information Learning Services to ensure there was a cohesive approach to training for both staff and students across the institution.I was responsible for providing both accredited and non-accredited training to staff on a wide variety of software and technology. This included the globally recognised Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certificates and the Supporting Learning Technologies (SLT) and Embedding Learning Technologies (ELT) SEDA awards. Delivering these awards allowed me to further enhance my knowledge and expertise of teaching within Higher Education.I was also the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) Test Centre Manager and Trainer. This included delivering training, managing candidate records, ensuring relevant policies and procedures were up to date and adhered to, invigilating exams and overseeing promotion activity. My day-to-day responsibilities included (but were not limited to) developing user guides and video tutorials (self study resources) on core IT systems (and software) deployed at the institution and planning and delivering face-to-face training workshops, online learning activities and one-to-one support for both academic and administrative staff.

My responsibilities whilst working at MyKnowledgeMap were spread across all areas of the company’s primary activity. This included skills and knowledge assessment solutions (identifying training needs and skills gaps), advanced content creation tools, e-learning course creation and web based portfolio/assessment systems.This role provided me with the opportunity to design and deliver a series of training workshops for prestigious organisations/institutions such as NHS Education Scotland, Birmingham City University, Manchester Metropolitan University, York College, Leeds City Council, Leicester College, 3M Healthcare, NCFE (a national awarding body) and Leeds City College.
