Provided strategic leadership to the development, implementation, operation, resilience, and continuous improvement of corporate and physical security standards and initiatives for HSBC’s 850+ North American business operations (U.S., Canada, and Caribbean. Provided senior leadership to a team of six Sr. Security Managers, 25+ security specialists, and more than 250 contract security personnel positioned across HSBC’s North American footprint. Developed and managed related budgets totaling approx. $22M annually.  Engaged in both self-administered and external audits of security operations of critical facilities and programs. Evaluated recommendations and validate remediation efforts to ensure intended improvement. In close collaboration with other corporate departments and functions, evolved corporate security programs such as security awareness, workplace violence prevention, travel security, safety, visitor management, and business continuity/crisis management. Designed and implemented technical security standards for HSBC facilities across North America. Led special event, executive/employee protection, and electronic security countermeasure initiatives. Coordinated the performance of risk assessments and developed security/terrorism risk mitigation plans. Represented the Physical Security Risk organization on HSBC’s senior executive committee, and present relevant reporting metrics as required.

Innovated corporate security programs and directed related budgets, including asset protection, business intelligence, security policy compliance, executive services and corporate aviation, IT security policy, special event, and physical/electronic security for DNC’s business units around the world. Led a staff of 23 directors, managers, and more than 650 security department associates. Established and managed company-wide loss prevention programs. Together with Corporate Communications, designed an implemented a corporate emergency/crisis notification and management program. Developed and managed DNC’s executive security, competitive intelligence, travel assurance, corporate aviation, compliance enforcement, and energy consumption management programs.

Office of Inspector GeneralEstablished the Office of Inspector General investigative mission throughout upstate New York, Vermont, and Western Pennsylvania encompassing approximately 10,500 Department of Homeland Security employees. Detected and investigated fraud, abuse, mismanagement, and waste within the Department’s programs and operations, and referred the findings of these investigations for criminal or administrative action.

Directed corporate security programs and related budgets (totaling approximately $16 million annually), including executive and special event protection, emergency response, and physical/electronic security for AOL’s 54 campuses, data centers, call centers, and office facilities (including AOL’s Mountain View campus). Directed a staff of 33 proprietary security professionals and approximately 240 contract personnel.  Developed AOL’s executive and special event security programs that were initially focused on AOL’s Chairman and Vice Chairman. This function was later outsourced, but still managed by Corp. Security.As Sr. Corporate Security Manager, administered AOL’s guard force contract consisting of approx. 610,000 work hours, with an annual contract budget of $10 million, as well as AOL’s $3.5 million electronic security maintenance agreements. Oversaw a guard service RFP and “reverse auction,” resulting in savings of $4.3 million over three years (13% savings over previous contract), with contract provisions added to enhance vendor performance.  Administered AOL’s global physical security upgrade program with a budget of $14 million. As Sr. Manager of Corporate Investigations, managed and coordinated retail loss, embezzlement, fraud, theft, standards of business conduct, corporate due diligence, and pre-employment background investigations. Developed a loss prevention initiative to protect the profitability of AOL’s e-commerce initiatives. Designed and implemented an automated incident reporting and investigations management system.

Developed (and taught) course curriculum and syllabus for Personnel Security, a core course within The George Washington University's Master of Arts degree program in Security Management. This course surveyed both the Federal Government security clearance process, as well as the practical application of personnel security programs in the private sector.

Provided security to the President of the United States and others, including heads of foreign governments. Conducted more than 50 domestic and international site security surveys and protective “advances.”  Served on approximately 75 dignitary protective security details.Conducted investigations of criminal offenses against the United States, including Bank Fraud, Money Laundering, Counterfeiting, and Identity Theft, and referred cases for prosecution in U.S. District Court. These investigations resulted in the arrest and conviction of more than 70 defendants in the United States and Canada. Served as Case Agent on multi-national counterfeit currency investigation known as “Supernote,” the highest priority criminal investigation within the Secret Service.  Served as liaison to law enforcement officials in Ontario, Canada, and throughout Europe.
