Design Engineer

Ascom Wireless Solutions

Design and implementation from scratch of the Android based smartphone Ascom Myco. I was responsible for porting Android to this device, including the Board Support Package (BSP), linux kernel, device drivers and the u-boot bootloader. It involved getting device drivers for several hardware components like USB, charging, touch, accelerometer, top display and PMIC to work. I also worked with various parts of Android platform including JNI and java layers. My role in this project was designer/developer.

Nov 2011 - Mar 2017

Design Engineer

Ascom Wireless Solutions

Developing for the Ascom i62 Wifi handset, implementing a wide range of functionality including extended profiles, call handling functionality and CLIR. The code was designed in C++ and unit tests were used for testing. My role in the project was designer/developer.

Nov 2011 - May 2013

Consultant

Voddler

Ported the Voddler mobile application to the MeeGo Platform using Qt/QML. The company Voddler needed an application for streaming movies to MeeGo based Nokia N9 devices. I was responsible for porting this application from a Nokia Symbian^3 implementation. The application was implemented with Qt/QML and Qt Mobility. My role in the project was as designer/developer.

Sep 2011 - Oct 2011

Embedded Systems Consultant

Jayway merged with my earlier employer Realway so this employment can be seen as continued employment at Realway. During my time at Jayway I further extended my wide experience within telecommunications combined with experience in app development using Qt/QML.

Jan 2010 - Oct 2011

Consultant

Integrated SMHI weather applications for baltic radar data with FMI libraries using mainly C/C++. SMHI needed to integrate their radar application, written in C, with a C++ library for enhancing radar images, but the assignment did also include adapting the C++ library to the HDF5 files used by the SMHI. I worked alone with this integration using feedback from SMHI. Since the C application and the C++ library had been designed independent of each other a lot of work was put into rewriting the C++ library to match the C application. A Python wrapper was used for accessing the C++ library from the C code and Python unit tests were added for testing. The target platform was linux so gcc/makefiles was used during the integration.

Mar 2011 - Apr 2011

Consultant

Developer for the physical layer of the 3GPP WCDMA stack at Ericsson Lindholmen. Ericsson decided to build a new base station that could incorporate GSM, WCDMA and LTE into one unit. I participated in designing the physical layer of the WCDMA stack. The uplink part of the physical layer was redesigned from scratch in order to create a better architecture, a task that requires studying documentation and making analysis groundwork. The code was designed in C++, but a lot of work was put into optimizing the generated assembler code for parallel execution on DSP. My role in the project was as a designer/developer, responsible for reconfigurations of the DCH/EUL/HSPA channels, as well as a designer/team leader for all work concerning the HS-DPCCH channel, including features like MIMO, Multi Carrier and MC-MIMO.

Nov 2008 - Mar 2011

Consultant

Developer for the physical layer of the 3GPP WCDMA stack at Ericsson Lindholmen. Creating an interface between the first two layers of the WCDMA stack in Ericssons RBS6000 base station, used for mobile communications. As the interface handles control signals between the physical layer and higher layers, designing this interface gave an overall picture of how the system was constructed. The objective was to build a complete solution from scratch, primary programming languages was C/C++. My role in the project was as a team leader and lead designer, responsible for the layer 1 control signaling.

Feb 2008 - Oct 2008

Consultant

Prisjakt Sverige Ab

The Swedish company Prisjakt needed an application for Nokia Symbian^3 devices that provides price comparisons and directs you to stores in your vicinity using the GPS on your phone. The application was implemented with Qt/QML and the recently released Qt Mobility. Eventually five people were involved in the project, but from the onset I worked alone designing and constructing the basic architecture. My role in the project was as designer/developer, responsible for architecture as well as the structure and function of all map-related features.

Dec 2010 - Jan 2011

Embedded Systems Consultant

Realway

Working as a consultant in embedded systems with many assignments for several customers acquiring extensive knowledge in embedded techniques and environments. This gave me years of experience within telecommunications and wireless communication.

Apr 2005 - Jan 2010

Consultant

Developing the physical layer of the WCDMA stack of Ericssons mobile platforms for cell phones. My work included transceiver ASIC control using low-level programming in C and assembly as well as optimization and target debugging on ARM and DSP. The main challenge was to optimize the code to keep the implementation fast and energy efficient, but still keep the memory consumption as low as possible. My job description included design and development as well as being a team leader with responsibility for the architecture and handling communications with teams responsible for development of other parts of layer 1.

Aug 2006 - Dec 2007

Consultant

Developer for the physical layer of the 3GPP WCDMA stack at Ericsson Mobile Platforms. The objective was to create a module test environment for the physical layer of the WCDMA stack, which included emulation of the hardware of cell phones. The test environment was designed in C++, using Perl to generate code and was tightly integrated into the C based target code. A lot of work was put into creating C++ models for the hardware, including emulation of a small micro processor created by Ericsson.
