I work in the Transfer Center at Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, Florida. I have been in my current position for three years this month and enjoy the challenges and rewards that I experience. I work with a Registered Nurse and the House Supervisor to facilitate the seamless flow of patient placement within our facility. There are individual and team aspects to this job, and I strive to be the best at each of the roles. Some individual roles include: the data entry and maintenance of the ADT (Admissions, Direct Admissions, and Transfers) Log which contains over 21,000 patient entries each year, compiling and maintaining the COVID-19 Log that holds all of the information on inpatient positive patients, filling out the nightly House Supervisor Report, filling out and disseminating the ESS Report daily which contains myriad COVID-19 patient information, and providing customer service to the individual units within our facility. The shared responsibilities within the office include: calling in the Gulf Breeze OR and GE teams for emergent and scheduled weekend procedures; initiating IR Stroke teams, STEMI teams, and Open-Heart teams; and facilitating Direct Admissions from surrounding hospitals.
