With more than a decade of diplomatic experience at the Department of State, I'm excited to lead the U.S. government's sports diplomacy efforts, fostering international cooperation through athletic initiatives. Our programs tap into a shared global passion for sports and facilitate opportunities for citizens to advance American values, empower youth and underserved populations, and build strong, inclusive, and stable communities. As the State Department’s Coordinator for International Athletics, our team is excited to be one year into the “Mega Decade” of international sporting events hosted in the United States. These collective events – highlighted by the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and Paralympics – are U.S. government’s greatest public diplomacy opportunities of this generation. Not only will these sporting events showcase top-level athletic competition, attract tens of millions of live spectators, and capture the attention of billions of viewers around the globe, but they will also provide platforms for an exchange of ideas, billions of dollars of economic stimulus, and harness the power of sport to unite and inspire American and international communities.
