Served as the Director of Safety Programs at the Tucson Airport Authority with responsibility for planning, managing and coordinating various assigned affairs and actions of the Operations Division; reporting operational results, and providing chronological systems, through the airport’s Safety Management System. He also provides consultation, expertise, and exercises functional authority over airport staff in essential matters of safety, health, and risk.Prior to his current position, he served as the Director of Operations and Director of Communications/Dispatch at the Tucson Airport Authority. Most notable is his 28 years in the Public Safety Communications industry and active membership in the Association of Public Safety Communications Officers (APCO). He currently serves as Chair of the APCO Standards Development Committee (SDC) and serves on the following sub-committees:• SDC Training Sub-Committee• CCSC Occupational Analysis CommitteeUnder his direction, the Communications/Dispatch Department became an accredited agency by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in March 2003 and had the distinction of becoming the first Airport Communications Center to receive such an award. Is an active member of the AAAE Operations, Safety, Planning and Emergency Management Committee and serves on the AAAE/SMS Workgroup. Used by AAAE to certify airport employees in the airport communications/dispatch discipline.
