I worked in the telesales marketing department on the Appletise Point of Sale drive project, the main objective was to promote the product to customers and encourage them to take the ‘Point of Sale’ kits. A secondary objective was to get customers to place an order. The role required working to targets and under pressure and was able to achieve a 20% strike rate (making 1 sale out of every 5 completed calls). My manager was very pleased with my performance and said she would definitely reemploy me, either on another project or on a permanent basis.

I had to sort parcels and preparing shipments for loading bays. The job also involved training junior staff.

One of my final year projects involved working directly with Slam Design, a manufacturer and distributor of: unusual, innovative and genuinely useful products that bring a smile to your face. I developed a good working relationship with the owner, George Crane and a good understanding of his product ethos as a result of regular meetings and revision of ideas based on feedback received. I presented in excess of 20 ideas, of which 3 made it to the final stages. The reason these were successful was because I had identified a gap in Slam’s market and these were recognised as a perfect fit. Of these one is being considered for production and adding to their range.

The design, manufacture of hand finished, unique luxury Christmas decorations.I worked with a co-founder of the business and we agreed product brief, presented ideas, designs and prototypes cumulating in an agreed range of Christmas baubles based on an Edwardian theme. In my opinion and based on my research the Edwardians theme was consistent with the company’s ethos and promoted the tradition of saving the best for each year resulting in a collection of treasured decorations and associated memories. The company was impressed with the concept and designs which made it to the final selection stages.

- Serving customers, stocking up fridges, washing glasses, clearing the bar/floor and taking food outI was involved with the Yates Y-Factor contest where I organised a group to support the acts which went so well that I was interviewed on local radio. Working for Yates I have learnt the importance of working as a team to provide a valued customer experience.
