Hi, I’m Daniel Oakley. A native of Nashville, Tennessee with over 15 years marketing experience. I’ve worked at the crux of entertainment, innovation and technology since dropping out of pre-med studies in 2005 to pursue a degree in entertainment. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University, I went to visit New York City for three days and ended up staying for close to five years. The majority of my time there was spent working under the Sony Music umbrella, where my focus was on leveraging new mobile technologies and social media to connect artists with fans and brands. Following my time at Sony, I worked at Taylor PR and led mobile, digital and social strategies for clients like Taco Bell, Capital One, P&G and Diageo.In 2012, I rolled the dice on a stealth startup that moved me to Los Angeles, CA to lead the company's content partnership efforts. That startup was led by Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and Trent Reznor and would become Beats Music. After the $3B Beats Music acquisition by Apple, I was then fortunate enough to help build out the Global Lifestyle/Cultural Marketing department for Apple Music and Beats 1 Radio. Contrasted by later starting my own company, BTFL, where I represented talent and negotiated TV/Film/Book opportunities for activist/actress Rose McGowan at the height of the #MeToo movement, as well as producing immersive experiences for Bonnaroo that even Rolling Stone has heralded as iconic. Following that, I was at Spotify (pre-IPO) and oversaw Industry & Creator Experiential Marketing for nearly 3.5 years. Following my time at Spotify, I was VP of Marketing at Route, a disruptive $1.25B valuation consumer e-commerce and tracking app looking to change the way you shop and introduce you to the world's best brands. I also enjoy good coffee and spending time with my wife and six year old boy, Kit. To sum it up: the convergence of entertainment, technology & innovation is where my passion lies. What's next?
