My current role manages the Christchurch City Council Organics Processing Plant at Bromley where all the kerbside organics collection (FOGO) from Christchurch is processed into compost. The plant processes over 70,000 t of organic material per year and returns this organic matter and the nutrient back to our soils via Certified Organic compost. Privileged to manage a site that achieves such a great outcome of the community, the environment and leads the way in organics recovery in NZ.Recently there has been a large focus on to move to recyclable or compostable packaging. Representing one of the largest facilities in NZ diverting organic waste I have been heavily involved in in industry groups looking at solutions that link the products with suitable end of life process. Therefore, I have a high level of understanding of the true compostability of much of the packaging in the NZ market. Also working hard on a solution for a truly compostable coffee cup for the NZ market – the coffee cup seems to be the ‘single use plastic bag’ of the corporate world. #gamechangerSpecialties: Operations management.
