My role was working with partner organizations like the SBA, SBDC, coworking and accelerators and being an advocate in and outside of City Hall for the small business approach to economic development. With my partners in Economic Development and at the Dallas Public Library, we created the Dallas Business Resource and Information Network (Dallas B.R.A.I.N.) to support entrepreneurship literacy and local business development. We wanted to help any small company and the service providers that serve them, but the B.R.A.I.N. has a special focus on the self-employed, microbusinesses and neighborhood serving businesses. Helping the City create a small business and entrepreneurship program was great fun and a tremendous learning opportunity. -
